About

My Translation Style

I’m an American-born Chinese American, so I’m definitely not the best translator out there! However, I would still consider myself quite fluent in Chinese and English. That being said, when I translate novels, I try to preserve the original meaning as close as possible but when there are degrees of freedom within the words, I tend to do the following:

  1. Switching Chinese idioms that do not translate directly into English out. I just use words that preserve the closest meaning!
  2. Because many sentences sound fine even when they are run-on in Chinese but not in English, I almost always break lines into separate sentences when I see fit. My breaks do not change the meaning the author intended to bring across.
  3. Name of people and places will usually not be translated into English, they will be kept in pinyin in most cases.
  4. I play around with colors and description to enhance the writing. For example if a color is directly translated as pinkish-white in Chinese, I would say shell-ivory!

Criteria for Novels

Okay, my standards are for NSFW and SFW both! Honestly, my novel standards are a bit high, so I won’t be translating any cliche quick transmigrating stories or boring face-slapping stories.

My first and foremost criteria is definitely HE only. I don’t like drama or dog-blood plots at all (especially those long-drawn misunderstandings), so only fluff is allowed here.

Mutual love and understanding in a relationship is cute, unequal give-and-take isn’t. For BL, Scum gongs/shous will be kicked to the curb (even if the ending is HE)! Big nope to emotional manipulators, players, etc.

For NSFW, I will NOT translate NTR, so please don’t ask me to translate those novels! I find them uncomfortable and demoralizing, but if you like to read them, enjoy it on other websites that translate it.

Only 1v1, no 3Ps, 4Ps, nPs, or harems! Although nPs are not my cup of tea, if you like it, there are other websites that translate them!
